Trae keeps knocking them out with hit after hit, picking up the Ozone Mixtape Monster award, dropping 3 music videos in one month (Nothin' 2 a Boss, I'm Fresh, and Million Bucks), and launching the new hot single, "So Hot", featuring DJ Khaled. If that wasn't enough, then there's Trae Day, an honor that was presented to him by the city of Houston for giving back to the streets. This is definitely an artist on his grind and definitely one to watch out for. It is an honor for Street Science to represent this underground legend, assisting him in proving to the industry that we're stronger as independents and doing big things just like a major. When you think of the word underground the first thing you think, is less than, limited in capability, or maybe entry-level compared to the mainstream.
When WE say underground, we're looking to represent the streets and the real people struggling to come up. These are the artists that make music you can really feel and relate to, the kind of music that hits home when you listen to it because you know they were spitting real shit when they wrote it. They weren't influenced or censored by some major label executive who is more concerned with a "hit song" than with good music. As a champion of the underground, Trae has proven that the best way to talk to the REAL Hip-hop consumer is through the "Streets". Representing the gritty urban pulse of the city of Houston, deep into its core, you'll see that artists like Trae are what keeps this independent minded city thriving. When we asked Trae why he stays independent he stated,"People gotta understand that I'm the black sheep of the pack. But also the fact that I'm the truth. Everything I say is true, nothing is falsified. You're gonna see a lot of real shit coming from me. I ain't here to be friendly with nobody. I ain't here really to kick up no dust. It just is what it is, the truth. I'm bringing to the game the realness, no fabricated shit. No ridin' nobody's dick cuz they hot. I did my own thing. I made my own way. I'm Independent!"
Trae is definitely that and with his newest venture, WWW.THATRUTHISHERE.COM, he has taken the streets digital! Introducing the "Streets" version of Myspace. So next time you hear someone say they are "underground" or "independent", don't get it twisted. They just might be doing it bigger than some of those major label artists out there.

Edgar Andino, manager of the Wisin and Yandel Duo, has confirmed the cancellation of the European Tour that was slated to begin today due to the unexpected illness that is afflicting Wisin's mother, who remains under medical care and is in a very delicate state of health.
The Duet was scheduled to arrive in Europe today for a tour that included the cities of Milan, Belgium and London, where they were programmed to conduct a series of totally sold-out concerts, public appearances and photo shoots. Nevertheless, given Mrs. Morera's delicate state of health, they decided to remain on the Island.
"Wisin is attending to this family situation and the Duo hope to assume their contractual commitments' as soon as Wisin's mother is stable, Andino indicated.

When you hear the word Reggaeton, right away a certain stereotype comes to mind based on how the industry has portrayed this rising genre. It's been referred to as urban or hurbano, ignorantly putting Hispanics into one label and titling it Latin Hip Hop. To set the story straight, all Latinos are NOT the same. There are over 184 dialects under the word Hispanic. While Reggaeton takes influences from Hip Hop, it would be wrong to define Reggaeton as the Hispanic or Latino version of this genre.
It has its own specific beat, rhythm, slang and swagger. Latin Hip Hop is just a term created by industry executives in an attempt to put a label on a new driving force in music they had ignored and underestimated for years: Latinos in Hip Hop. This is where innovators like our newest client, multi-platinum and award winning music & film producer, Boy Wonder and The Chosen Few, come in to document and educate the industry about what exactly Reggaeton is and to prove to us all that this powerful movement is far from over.
With exposure and success from artists such as Daddy Yankee, Don Omar and Tego Calderon, this movement helped push Reggaeton and most importantly, Latinos in Hip Hop, to the mainstream. Even so, with all the obvious success, it has left fans and industry insiders, asking: what's next? The Chosen Few crew steps up to deliver just that with their new film Chosen Few III, The Movie. The film features new tracks from Chosen Few crew members L.D.A., Fuego, Reychesta and Getto. This double disc sets out on the very ambitious task of not only concluding the trilogy of this documentary series on Reggaeton but to also show us where this genre is going. "I don't want be compared or acknowledged just as Reggaeton 'cause in my albums there's Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Reggaeton, Tropical and Freestyle. We got a little bit of everything that everyone is going relate to." |
